Salt Lake-based Alpnet Inc. said it has been awarded two new development contracts by the Asian Language Services and European Language Services departments of IBM.
The contracts call for Alpnet to provide custom enhancements to its proprietary translation software currently in use within IBM.Alpnet said it will add Chinese, Korean and Thai language capability, as well as other enhancements, to the Translation Support System/ Workstation presently being used by IBM for translation from English into Japanese. In addition, Alpnet will add European language capability to allow TSS/WS to be used for translation from English into various European languages.
IBM uses ALPNET software to assist in the translation of technical documentation, software and marketing materials from English into various languages at IBM's translation centers around the world.
