Bonneville Pacific Corp. said the Nevada Public Service Commission has approved a power purchase contract for its Georgia-Pacific cogeneration project. The contract is for an 85 megawatt project near Las Vegas.

The plant will be adjacent to a gypsum wallboard facility owned by Georgia-Pacific Corp. The wallboard facility will use heat generated by the cogeneration plant under a long-term heat sales agreement.The electrical power produced by the plant will be sold to Nevada Power under the contract just approved. The facility will consist of multiple combustion turbine generators, a heat recovery system and a steam turbine.

The project is scheduled to come on line in 1992.
