It was a great weekend for FSU - Fresno State University as well as Florida State.
Florida State's 24-10 victory over Miami boosted the Seminoles from ninth to sixth in this week's Associated Press college football poll. The Fresno State Bulldogs cracked the rankings - they are No. 25 - for just the third time in their history with a 31-17 triumph over Nevada-Las Vegas."The more recognition we get helps us work nearer to our potential," said Fresno State coach Jim Sweeney, who has one of the nation's five unbeaten-untied teams (8-0 overall, 5-0 in the Big West) and a 15-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, Florida State knocked Miami from second place to seventh. Colorado, a 20-3 winner over Oklahoma, rose from third to second behind Notre Dame, which trounced Pitt 45-7.
Brigham Young University fell five places to 23rd following its 56-14 loss late Saturday night to Hawaii. Hawaii just missed cracking the top 25. BYU dropped out of the United Press International rankings.
