William Hurt said he was thankful for a judge's ruling that he and former ballerina Sandra Jennings did not have a common-law marriage, but Jennings' lawyer claimed the judge was smitten by Hurt. The publicity-happy lawyer, Richard Golub, made some strong accusations against New York Justice Jacqueline Silbermann after she issued her decision Tuesday. "Any judge is entitled to fall in love with any witness," Golub said. "She was starstruck and impressed by William Hurt. The decision is a legal embarrassment for the judge. This is a perfect case for appeal." The decision came after a sensational trial in which Jennings, who was seeking part of Hurt's millions to support their son, Alex, and Golub portrayed the Oscar winner as an abusive alcoholic. "I am thankful for the ruling received today which is a vindication of everything I have said," Hurt said.
