The most interesting question of the night at City Hall - in a pretty routine primary election - was the whereabouts of candidate Margaret Peterson's mother.

Peterson, who said she was confident about making it into the general election, was more anxious about the overdue return of her 70-year-old mother, Pat Kerr, from a three-week African safari. The candidate showed up at City Hall to watch election results - she was a winner - only after making two fruitless runs to meet flights at the Salt Lake International Airport.

Because of a airline strike in Rome, Kerr was delayed. She finally arrived at 10:30 p.m., but the whereabouts of her luggage is still unknown.
