SHARE QUAKE ROCKS ALEUTIAN ISLANDS

An earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale rocked islands in Alaska's Aleutian chain early Saturday, but there were no reports of injuries, an official said.

Paul Whitmore of the Alaska Tsunami Warning Center said the quake hit at 7:48 a.m. ADT and was centered 130 miles southeast of the island of Amchitkain.Whitmore said some people are known to inhabit the island but was unsure how many.

Whitmore said the quake was not strong enough to create a tsunami.
