A Salt Lake man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder in connection with an apparently gang-related drive-by shooting last week.

Two other shots grazed the shins of Chuck Cordova, 19.

Alires is also charged with robbing the Chuck Cordova's mother of her purse.

According to a criminal complaint and police reports, Alires jumped out of a car near 300 East and 900 South about noon and began to assault Chuck Cordova, whose mother ran to his aid.

Alires then grabbed her purse and began running back to the car, yelling to the driver to "get the gun," according to the complaint.

A short time later, Alires returned and fired about six shots into the laundromat, where the victims had fled, with a .22-caliber rifle, the complaint states.
