City officials are seeking approval from residents to bond for $57,000 to pay for part of a culinary water improvement project. The issue will be on the Nov. 7 general election ballot.

Mayor Austin D. Anderson said the community needs to drill a new well, improve development of the water supply, upgrade the culinary water distribution system and repair the existing storage reservoir. Some land purchases will also be required.Revenue bonds would be amortized and interest paid with proceeds from charges for culinary water service. Anderson emphasized that "under no circumstances" will payment of the bonds be a general obligation indebtedness of the community.

Part of the costs of the system will be financed through sources such as the state and federal governments.
