Colombia will ask U.S. officials for information on Luis Alfonso Carvajal to determine if the alleged drug trafficker caught Tuesday in Bogota is wanted for extradition, sources said Wednesday.

Police, meanwhile, said two people were wounded when a small bomb exploded Wednesday at a money exchange house south of Medellin, home to one of the largest cocaine cartels. Unidentified men in a passing car hurled the bomb at the shop in the village of Envigado, radio reports said.News reports also said secret police agent Jose Galindo Moreno, 35, was assassinated Wednesday morning south of Medellin. The secret police would neither confirm nor deny the report.

Carvajal, believed to be a member of the Medellin cartel, was captured Tuesday by plainclothes agents in the north of Bogota.

His name is thought to appear on a list of alleged drug traffickers wanted by the United States, but the government is not sure if he is wanted for extradition, a Justice Ministry source said. Sources said Justice officials would check on Carvajal's status with the U.S. government.

Another Colombian wanted for drug trafficking, Manuel Julian Palma, was notified Tuesday he would be extradited to the United States. Palma, arrested about a month ago, now has five days to appeal the government's decision.
