Jimmy Matt and Brad Loundahl, both from Logan, lead the Great Utah Olympic Torch Relay motorcade at the mouth of Logan Canyon. The relay began Wednesday at 8 a.m. with trucks carrying Olympic torches and rings departing from Blanding, St. George, Kanab, Dutch John, Garden City and Wendover. During the next four days the trucks will pass through 100 communities in 29 counties, converging in Salt Lake City Saturday. Games supporters hope the relay and Peter Ueberroth's recent visit to Salt Lake City (see B1) will sway voters Nov. 7.
