Two City Council members not up for re-election support Mayor Blaine Willes' bid to win a second term.

The third did not go on record with support for either mayoral candidate, Willes or former Councilwoman Stella Welsh. The three, Lucile Steele, Kelvin Clayton and Norman Woodhouse, were elected in 1987 and won't face another election until 1991. All three unanimously support incumbents Joyce Johnson, Keith Hunt and Jim Evans in their bids to win re-election to the City Council this year.

Steele and Woodhouse said both mayoral candidates would serve Orem well, but they support the mayor they have worked with. Clayton declined to endorse either candidate but said Welsh probably would be a more decisive mayor than Willes. Willes, on the other hand, is a man of great patience, Clayton said.
