Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Utah, which provides health insurance coverage to 500,000 Utahns, ranks first among the 73 Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in the country in accuracy of answering customer inquires, according to an audit performed by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
In overall customer service capabilities, measuring membership duties, claims processing and telephone response, the Utah health-care company ranked first among the 21 plans in the West and 16th in the country.Jed H. Pitcher, Utah plan president, said, "Our high ranking in essentially every area of measurement is due to a coordinated effort on the part of everyone in our company."
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Utah ranked fourth in the country in accuracy of claims processing and 15th in the nation for timeliness of claims processing and payments.
"Fast and accurate claims processing and efficient answering of customer questions has become our No. 1 corporate goal in recent years, and our people are to be commended for their high national ranking," Pitcher said.
