Former surgeon general C. Everett Koop will join "Dallas" star Larry Hagman as a co-chairman of the American Cancer Society's 1989 Great American Smokeout Nov. 16. Koop's tenure as the straight-talking surgeon general of the United States made him one of the best known public health officials in history and in a television spot promoting the event, Hagman says he's enlisted Koop's help because the Smokeout keeps him "busier than a cat in a room full of rocking chairs."
