It will cost $35,000 to hold a retreat at Snowbird next year to discuss what can be done to clean up the air in Utah.
David Bird, chairman of a committee putting the retreat together for late April or early May, told members of the board of governors of the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce some of the money to host the two-day retreat will come from the Governor's Clean Air Task Force, some from Mayor Palmer DePaulis and the remainder raised from private business. The invitation-only retreat will have 120 of the "movers and shakers" in the state to share information about how to clean up Utah's air and expand the task force's influence, Bird said. He said everyone must realize they contribute to the pollution problem through driving cars, wood-burning stoves and industrial smokestacks.
Bird said those attending the retreat will attempt to determine how polluted air affects health and economic development.
