Trial for a South Ogden man charged in an scheme that prosecutors say bilked more than 20 investors out of some $181,000 has been set for Jan. 22, 2nd District Court officials said Monday.

But the trial for Robert G. Johnson, 41, could again be delayed for consideration of pending defense motions, a court clerk said.Johnson had been scheduled for trial Oct. 24. But the proceeding was postponed when Judge David Roth disqualified himself and transferred the case to Judge Ronald Hyde.

Roth said he might be prejudiced because he had heard a companion case.

Johnson is charged with seven counts each of securities fraud and selling unregistered securities and a single count of employing an unregistered securities agent.

Co-defendant Blake W. Adams, 37, Gilbert, Ariz., was sentenced last month to 30 days in jail and ordered to pay restitution on his guilty pleas to three securities fraud-related charges.
