Fred Gowans, a professor at Brigham Young University, will be the guest speaker at a meeting of the Military History Society of Utah at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8. The free public lecture will be held in the theater at Fort Douglas.

Gowans has done extensive research and writing on the Plains Indians, fur traders and explorers of the high plains. He has written several books, including "Rocky Mountain Rendezvous."
