A 17-year-old hunter, found unconscious Wednesday morning after spending Tuesday night lost in Payson Canyon, has died from exposure-related complications, an LDS Hospital spokesman reported.

Jason Evans, Payson, was the object of an all-night search by Utah County Search and Rescue volunteers after becoming separated from hunting companion Steve Finlayson. According to the sheriff's department, the men became separated Tuesday evening shortly after a storm sent blowing snow through the canyon.Finlayson contacted authorities after Evans failed to return to their car. Searchers found Evans in a deep canyon Wednesday at approximately 5 a.m., after finding and tracking his footprints in snow for about five miles.

The victim was flown by helicopter to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, then transferred to LDS Hospital. He died at 12:45 p.m. following three hours of emergency treatment.
