A preliminary hearing for a woman charged with forging 10 checks valued at $4,063.53 on an account belonging to the Utah Independent Living Center has been continued to Nov. 15 in 5th Circuit Court, Murray.

Denise R. Johnson-Smith faces 10 second-degree felony charges in connection with the case. Information filed with the court alleges that Smith, 32, 862 E. 4070 South, forged and cashed 10 checks on the center's account between May 4 and July 10. The checks ranged in size from $200 to $883.29.
