A Mexican national convicted in the wounding of the son of Cedar City's treasurer has been sentenced to up to life in prison, Iron County Attorney Scott Burns said Friday.

Burns said Pedro Angeles Martinez, 27, was sentenced to five-years-to-life in prison on his attempted capital murder conviction in the July 29 wounding of Greg Prince, 21.Martinez also was given an additional year in prison for using a firearm in the commission of a crime, Burns said.

The day after the shooting, Martinez and Kenneth Gerald McCarty, 21, Marysville, Calif., were arrested near California's Death Valley following a high-speed chase. They also are wanted in Salt Lake City on a car theft charge and in connection with a July 30 holdup of a Beatty, Nev., gas station.
