The Great Utah Olympic Torch Relay will pass through West Valley City Nov. 4, and the Valley West Chamber of Commerce is encouraging citizens and business people to participate in support of bringing the Winter Olympics to Utah.
Kathi Lund, chamber executive director, said interested people should meet at Granger Park at 11 a.m. where Rep. Brent H. Goodfellow, D-West Valley City, will speak. Refreshments will be served to the runners before they continue their run to the West Valley City City Hall at 2470 S. Redwood Road.After another rest stop, the runners will continue toward the City-County Building in Salt Lake City and then to the State Capitol for a torch-lighting ceremony.
"The relay is a great way for our chamber members and residents to get the word out and show their support for the Olympics in furthering economic development and showcasing Utah to the rest of the world," Lund said.
The relay is sponsored by Questar Corp. and KALL Radio. It began Nov. 1 at the four-corners area and has gone through all Utah counties.
