Utah Small Cities Inc., a non-profit corporation promoting rural economic development, is looking for high school entrepreneurs and is willing to pay to find them.
Craig Davis, chairman of the organization's Entrepreneurism Subcommittee, said competition will be conducted in the southeastern, southwestern, central and Uintah Basin regions with the three top young entrepreneurs receiving awards in each region.An award of $1,000 in cash goes to the outstanding young entrepreneur in each region with smaller awards going to second and third place. Local businesses will be asked to supplement these awards with additional contributions.
All participants will be encouraged to compete next spring in Gov. Norm Bangerter's young entrepreneur search with the winner receiving $10,000.
Interested people can contact Ed Meyer or Joyce Smith in the state rural economic development office at 538-3033 for applications and additional information. Applications are due Dec. 31 and winners will be announced in January.
