"Motorist," a homage to classic cars in the guise of a "road" picture, will be presented tonight by the Utah Media Arts Center.

The video will show in the Salt Lake Art Center auditorium, 20 S. West Temple, at 8 p.m. Admission is $4."Motorist" is a narrative, feature-length, wry and witty tale of a classic car nut driving a vintage Thunderbird across the country for a Japanese collector who ultimately takes it to Japan.

As the driver (Richard Marcus) crosses America he offers a running commentary on the state of the American automobile and flashes back to his youth and his early obsession with cars.

The 70-minute video is by Chip Lord, a former underground videomaker who recorded avant-garde performance art and later established the Texas installation Cadillac Ranch. He is now a video instructor at the University of California at Santa Cruz.
