The county is close to wrapping up its proposed budget for next year and employees can look forward to a salary increase of up to 5 percent, Davis County employee representatives were told Wednesday.

The county commission held a brief meeting with Davis County Employee Association representatives Wednesday after its regular commission session. The tentative budget calls for a 2 percent cost of living raise, a 1.5 percent merit increase and an evaluation increase of up to 1.5 percent, commission chairman William Peters told the group.

Peters emphasized the budget is still only in tentative form and the commissioners have barely finished holding meetings with department heads to review budget requests.

The tentative budget will be ready for release to the public in three or four days, Peters said, and a Dec. 13 public hearing is scheduled before the final 1990 budget is adopted.

DEA president Jerry Weaver said the employees realize the county is working with limited funds and thanked the commission for the proposed increases.
