SHARE UTAH GIVEN $10,000 FOR MATHEMATICS COALITION

Utah is one of 25 states awarded $10,000 each to plan state mathematics coalitions. Exxon Education Foundation and the Carnegie Corp. of New York provided the funding. The grants were distributed through the Mathematical Sciences Education Board of the National Research Council.

The states will use the grants to create mathematics coalitions to improve student performance in this important academic area.Grant directors will meet in Colorado in February to hear reports of current activity in mathematics education reform and examine research.
