Lindsay Crosby, the youngest son of crooner Bing Crosby and his first wife, shot himself to death in what was ruled a suicide, authorities said Tuesday.

Lindsay Crosby, 51, was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the head in a Calabasas area home at 5:40 p.m. Monday, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.Lindsay Crosby was the youngest of the four sons that the famed crooner fathered by his first wife, Dixie Lee. He and brothers, Gary, and twins Dennis and Philip, once had a singing group, but it broke up in the 1950s and the sons never came close to matching the career of their famous father, who died in 1977.

Each admitted that the burden of the famous name was more of a handicap than an asset.
