Dan Marriott has called a press conference in the State Capitol Friday to announce his plans concerning the 2nd Congressional District race next year.

Since it's unlikely he'd go to such trouble to announce he's not going to run against Rep. Wayne Owens, D-Utah, it's assumed Marriott will try to recapture his old congressional seat.Marriott represented the 2nd District from 1976 to 1984. He sought the Republican nomination for governor in 1984, losing to Gov. Norm Bangerter in the Republican primary.

Marriott was in the insurance business before 1976. Since leaving office, he's worked in real estate development.
