St. George will host Utah's 94th anniversary of statehood celebration Jan. 3-6, according to the Utah State Historical Society.

The traditional program will be held Jan. 4 in the St. George Tabernacle, and a round of lectures, tours and displays have been planned for the Statehood Day festival, society spokesman Kent Powell said.To kick off the celebration, a banquet and a lecture on present-day and historical polygamy is planned at Dixie College Jan. 3. The following day, a tour of Silver Reef, a historic mining town, and a presentation on the history of Utah's Dixie are scheduled, he said.

A tour of historic homes in St. George, a quilting display, and a musical presentation on southern Utah history are set for Jan. 5.

And the celebration will conclude with tours of old Fort Pierce, the Dominguez-Escalante Trail and a lecture on the outlaws of southern Utah on Jan. 6, Powell said.
