Trial has been set for Feb. 8 and 9 for Michael Allen Sterger, 29, Cypress, Calif., in 6th District Court to answer felony and misdemeanor charges related to the July 23 automobile death of a California women.
Michelle Eckroth, 26, Huntington Beach, Calif., was riding in a car driven by Sterger when it went out of control. She was ejected through the windshield when the vehicle struck a boulder. She died shortly after being rushed to a hospital in Page, Ariz.Sterger is facing a second-degree felony charge of automobile homicide and two Class B drug misdemeanor charges.
A man who was riding in the back seat of the car, Don Dudrey of Garden Grove, Calif., said testified in preliminary hearing that he and the defendant had consumed beer. He also testified a marijuana cigarette was smoked by Sterger shortly before the accident.
