Primary Children's Medical Center is trying to get Utahns to extend the Christmas spirit of giving to blood donations.

Donations tend to decline during the holidays, said Myron Laub, Intermountain Health Care Blood Services director. But, he said, "the demand is just as great."Primary Children's has scheduled a blood-donor drive Friday, Dec. 29.

The hospital goes through more than 6,500 units of blood each year in treating its child surgical and medical patients.

The donor drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the hospital auditorium.
