The city's first woman mayor will be inaugurated Wednesday, Jan. 3, as will two city councilmen.

Marie Huff, who resigned her president-elect position with the Spanish Fork Chamber of Commerce to take the mayoral post, will be sworn in at 5 p.m. at the Spanish Fork City Office, 40 S. Main, as will councilmen Sheldon Gordon and Rex Woodhouse. The four-year term will be Woodhouse's third and the first for Gordon, who once served the city as a police officer.

In addition to the swearing-in ceremonies, a public reception will be held afterward from 6 to 8 p.m. and refreshments will be served. No formal invitations will be sent out for the reception, but everyone is welcome to come meet the new city officers, according to Huff.

"It's the first time we will have had such a ceremony, and it's nice to see that everyone is so excited about us taking office," Huff said.
