Seven Centerville residents have been named as members or alternates to the city's revitalized Historic Sites Committee. The members were approved by the Centerville City Council.

Named to the committee were Clara Goudy, Centerville Historical Society president; Smith Randall, former president; author and tour guide Paul T. Smith; Leon Olson, a society founder; and Bernie Messina, an architect and member of the city Planning Commission.Alternate members are Ron Trump, a Planning Commission member, and retired police chief Clifford Russell.

The council appointed its first historic site committee in 1985, but the group gradually disbanded. This fall, the city's historical society asked that the committee be revitalized and new appointments made.

The city's planning and zoning ordinances include a chapter on handling historic sites and specify that an advisory committee be appointed to help the commission and council in decisions regarding the sites.
