It's time to grab some skates and practice figure eights.

Problems with a Freon compressor that cools the brine solution used at the ice skating rink at Utah Lake State Park have been solved, and the rink is finally open for the winter season.Skaters have been flocking to the park, according to park officials; on Dec. 22, the first day the rink opened, 480 people visited the rink.

The park is offering a full slate of skating sessions. Weekday sessions are: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., 1-3 p.m., 4-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. On Fridays and Saturdays, there is also a late night session, from 10 to 12 p.m. On Sundays the rink is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The ice skating rink is available for rental Monday through Thursday from 10 to 12 p.m. The park has ice skates for rent in childrens' size 9 through adult size 14 for $1. Admission to the rink is $2 for adults and $1.50 for children 6-11. Children under 6 are admitted free.

The Provo City Parks and Recreation Department is offering ice skating lessons at the rink Monday, Jan. 8 through Saturday, Feb. 3. Lessons are held weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
