Sometimes predictions come true. That was the case of Jim Benassi, who had feared an accident would occur at his father's house.

Wednesday morning around 1:30 a.m., a black sedan went over a curb, through a wood fence, crossing the yard through the wall of Benassi's home and came to rest in his living room at 975 E. 6600 South, a Salt Lake County Sheriff's department clerk reported. The house is located across the street from the Union Square freeway exit. Benassi's father was sleeping in the living room at the time and received minor injuries, officials said.

"They were supposed to put a safety protection or barricade of some sort out in front of the house to avoid this," said Benassi about the Utah Department of Transportation. "They put a sign instead and it really didn't do any good."

"The traffic diagram of cars shows the house is lined up with the road. He just didn't turn," said Mary Holbrook, Salt Lake County Sheriff Department record's clerk.

Department of Transportation officials said they responded to the request by posting a large warning sign.
