Former workers of BHP Petroleum in Vernal have been certified as eligible for Federal Trade Act benefits, according to Terry O. Burns, unemployment insurance director for the Utah Department of Employment Security.

The benefits are available to workers laid off on or after Sept. 25, 1989, and before Nov. 30, 1991. These benefits include payment of weekly trade readjustment allowances, job search and relocation allowances and payment of approved training.Trade affected workers filing for weekly trade readjustment allowance benefits must be enrolled in training or have a waiver of the training enrollment requirement in order to receive benefits. He advises workers previously separated from this company within the certification period to report to their nearest Job Service office and apply for benefits.
