Christmas with a touch of the Emerald Isle comes to Utah this week with a concert by the Chieftains on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 8 p.m. in Symphony Hall.
Sponsored by the Utah Symphony, the concert will feature the renowned Irish folk musicians in traditional songs with a holiday flair, as well as an audience sing-along in a number of familiar carols. In 1983 the Chieftains became the first group to present a concert in the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. That same year they toured China. On television their work with flutist James Galway and on Saturday Night Live is well known. They have also collaborated with such pop stars as Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Mark Knopfler and Jackson Browne.
Earlier this year their multiple appearances with the Utah Symphony resulted in sold-out houses.
Tickets for Wednesday's concert range in price from $10 to $25, with student tickets available for $5. For information call 533-NOTE.
