A Park City woman was killed in a one-car crash Saturday near Cedar City; a Salt Lake woman died Sunday of injuries received in a Nov. 27 accident; and a New Mexico teenager was killed and another booked into the Box Elder County Jail on automobile homicide charges stemming from a Sunday morning accident on I-15 in Box Elder County.

KILLED:Verla Richards, 74, Park City.

Ruth Kennington, 55, Salt Lake.

Pamela Begay, 17, Sanostee, N.M.

Richards was a passenger in a car driven by her husband, A.Z. Richards, that left I-15 near the Iron County-Washington County line about 12:50 p.m. The Utah Highway Patrol said the driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel.

Verla Richards was pronounced dead at Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City. Her husband was flown by helicopter to University Hospital where he was in serious condition Monday.

Both occupants were wearing seat belts.

Pamela Begay was ejected from the vehicle when it veered off the right side of the road and rolled on I-15 in Box Elder County, according to Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Paul Stephens.

The driver of the car, Darrell Johnson, 18, also of Sanostee, was treated for minor injuries at nearby Bear River Hospital and released. He was later booked into the Box Elder County Jail, Stephens said.

The accident occurred about 4 a.m. on northbound I-15 in an area known as the Bear River bottoms.

Kennington died Sunday at University Hospital of head injuries received in an automobile-pedestrian accident near 1510 S. 1500 East.
