Lee W. Robinson, who was appointed assistant superintendent of the Utah Schools for the Deaf and Blind in July 1988, has been named acting superintendent for the schools.
Robinson will temporarily assume the post vacated by Thomas S. Bannister, who is leaving Utah to head the Alabama system for the deaf and blind. The temporary appointment was announced after a telephone poll of members of the State Board of Education and was based on a recommendation by the Institutional Council of the schools.A national search will be undertaken to replace Bannister, a process expected to take several months.
Robinson came to Utah from Illinois, where he was a curriculum developer and coordinator at the Hadley School for the Blind. He has been a consultant to the American Foundation for the Blind and was assistant superintendent in the Idaho School for the Deaf and Blind for seven years.
