The Utah Department of Community and Economic Development and most of its divisions will move from the State Office Building in mid-December to the old Auerbach's store, 324 S. State, while asbestos is removed from their offices.

The state agencies will occupy the second and third floors of the building, which most recently was used to house Salt Lake City offices while the City-County Building was renovated. Moving will be completed between Dec. 15 and Dec. 20.Because of the move, the telephone numbers for the department and divisions will change, according to Russell Behrmann, public information officer. A recorded message has been prepared for all old lines that will give callers the new numbers. Mail sent to the State Office Building will be forwarded.

The divisions scheduled for relocation are National Marketing, International Marketing, Business Expansion and Retention, Business Creation, Office of Job Training for Economic Development, Utah Film Commission, Rural Development, Women's Bureau, Procurement Outreach, Division of Community Development, Division of Indian Affairs, Office of Asian Affairs, Office of Black Affairs, Office of Hispanic Affairs, Metro Utah Inc. and Utah Small Cities Inc.

In a cost-saving move, these divisions agreed to move early so their offices could be used to house other state agencies facing a move to temporary, portable office space.

The new central reception telephone number for the department and its agencies will be 538-8700.
