This city is putting together a financial package that will fund a wastewater facilities plan preparatory to installing a sewer system.
The facilities study will cost about $37,000, according to Alden Robinson of Sunrise Engineering, the firm retained by the city to make the study. The state's Community Impact Board has awarded the city a $12,000 grant to assist in financing the study, the City Council has committed $5,000 in matching funds, and the city expects to obtain the remaining $20,000 from the Environmental Protection Agency.
A council survey of residents last summer indicated strong patron support. It also revealed that several illegal waste water disposal systems are in operation in the city.
Whether the city gets beyond studying the feasibility in the near future to actual installation depends largely on cost factors, Mayor Gerald Hansen said.
