Two of Utah's national parks, Bryce and Zion canyons, are featured in a weeklong travel series that is being syndicated to 79 television stations nationwide starting Monday.
A crew from the News Travel Network was in southern Utah in late October and early November to shoot footage of the parks and produced reports that will be shown in several different ways.Expected to attract the most viewers are the five 90-second "Travel Reports" that are syndicated to 79 network and independent television stations nationwide, including KUTV Channel 2 in Salt Lake City.
Other stations that subscribe to the network's travel series are located in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Boston, Denver, Atlanta, Phoenix, Miami, Las Vegas and Idaho Falls.
The network also provides five two-minute segments that are shown four times each weekday and twice each weekend on the Cable News Network. CNN viewers should get a glimpse of Zion and Bryce in February or March.
Six- to eight-minute shorts that are broadcast on Armed Forces Television and on the Hospital Satellite Network that is beamed to some 500 hospitals will feature the parks in January.
According to News Travel Network Production Coordinator Katie Walsh, a tourist destination featured on the weeklong series may be seen by as many as 35 million viewers.
