First came the work, then the refreshments as fourth-graders from Truman Elementary School trimmed a tree in honor of Shannon Kinder, a classmate killed recently in a traffic accident near their school. The children had made a pink and white paper chain, teddy bear Santas, jeweled ornaments, dolls, butterflies and regular Santas to decorate the tree in the foyer of the Zions National Bank branch at Smith's Food King, 4700 S. 4000 West. The bank invites a different school group each year to trim its tree, but the memorial for Shannon was a special occasion, said Deborah Crowe, spokeswoman for the bank.
