The fourth and final session in the Deseret News Ski School will be held Saturday at Alta, as most of the 600 students take the ski lifts for the first time.
The students, ranging in age from 8 to "senior citizens," will be using the ski lifts to practice the skills they learned during the first three sessions.For those in the downhill classes, Saturday's lesson will include a review of using the chair lifts, traversing the slope, the wedge and wedge turn, wedge christie and linked wedge christie.
The cross-country ski students will follow the outline for the snowplow, snowplow turns, telemark, traversing and be introduced to gates, hairpins and bridges.
Students are to meet at the Albion Day Lodge Saturday between 9 and 9:30 a.m. for assignment to an instructor. Classes will be taken on the chair lift for on-the-slope training.
Ski school buses will be at Olympus Hills Shopping Center and Cottonwood Mall (west of ZCMI) at 8 a.m. for the trip to Alta at 8:30 a.m. They leave the ski resort at 1 p.m. for the return trip.
