What's the difference between a bowling ball and a frozen turkey?

Terry Pruss, a participant in a Walla Walla, Wash., turkey bowling tournament that raised $200 and 50 pounds of food for charity, supplied the punchline:"A real bowling ball doesn't scream on its way down the alley."

The weekend event, sponsored by a shopping mall, consisted of hurling frozen turkeys down a makeshift alley toward 10 2-liter plastic bottles.

"It's like shooting a muzzleloader through a tissue paper wall; it just makes a big hole," said Greg Olsen of the Milton-Freewater, Ore., Safeway team after his 16-pounder knocked down only the middle "pins."

Pruss said his team boosted its averages by practicing in a grocery store aisle.
