A woman who called police last month and said she found her beaten, strangled husband on the floor of their Long Island home was charged Thursday with hiring a hit man to kill him, police said.

Alsie Lovett, 66, was charged with second-degree murder for allegedly paying a hit man $2,000 to kill her husband Leroy, 75, in their Roosevelt home Nov. 30, said detective Lt. John Nolan.Three other people, Omar Williams, 20, a salesman; David Navarro, 19, who was unemployed, and Karen Wynter, 27, a housewife, were charged with killing Lovett, Nolan said.

The couple had argued over splitting up some of their property, Nolan said. He said the killers made the Lovett home appear to have been ransacked so investigators would conclude that the retired carpenter was killed by robbers.
