Donations and pledges to the annual fund-raising campaign of the United Way of the Great Salt Lake Area passed the $4 million mark Thursday.
The $4,131,532 total represents 77 percent of the organization's $5.3 million goal."Only a million to go," said chairman Floyd A. Petersen, managing partner of Deloitte Haskins and Sells. "We all feel like mountain climbers gearing up for the final assault on the summit. This last distance is the most difficult and in some ways the most important because our final numbers determine how much some services can expand or new services be funded."
Campaign volunteers will gather for the finale Dec. 14 to estimate final collection figures and honor companies and individuals.
