The Executive Committee of the National Society - Daughters of the American Revolution has announced continued support of a drive to secure funds for a proposed Black Patriots Memorial.

Funds for the Black Patriots Memorial are being solicited throughout the country by the Black Revolutionary War Patriots Foundation. A contribution from NSDAR was given to the Black Patriots Memorial in February 1986. It is expected that this memorial, as well as those others scheduled for Constitution Gardens, will receive the continued support of the NSDAR.In order to assist black descendants in tracing their ancestry to the Revolution, the NSDAR Minority Participation Project has been in effect since June 7, 1984. A National vice chairman for minority research has been working with the society's Lineage Research Committee, and additional genealogists and volunteers have been assigned to the proj-ect on a continuing basis. Their work has been completed for Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Louisiana.

Four publications have been issued by NSDAR as a result of this research. Copies of the black patriots list have been placed by state regents in a library in every state. When completed, the approximately 5,000 names will be printed in a research volume.
