Rep. Howard Nielson, R-Utah, returned to work Wednesday after minor surgery earlier in the week to correct a problem with his uvula, the flap of tissue that hangs from the rear of the roof of the mouth.
L. Reid Ivins, Nielson's administrative assistant, said Nielson had surgery to shorten the uvula because it interfered with his breathing, especially when he slept - sometimes causing a shortage of oxygen.
