PM Engineers Inc., in business since September 1955, has been dissolved, according to Bruce Thomas, president.

The office officially closed Jan. 31, but the 16 employees were laid off Jan. 20. Thomas, who is wrapping up the company's affairs, said most of the employees have been hired by other companies. He blamed the lack of business in the construction industry for demise of the company, which he described as a multidisciplined consulting firm providing services in mechanical, electrical, survey, civil and structural engineering.

Thomas said the company did work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, FMC Corp., Brush Wellman Corp. and the Snyderville Basin Sewer Improvement District. It also provided engineering consulting services to architects.

At the height of the company's business, it had 35 employees, but that gradually dwindled to the 16 when the corporation was dissolved, he said. PM Engineers Inc. was named after the original owner, Paul McGill, who hasn't been associated with the company management since 1980.

Thomas said he appreciated the relationships he had his employees had in the business community over the years. Asked what he would do now for a job, he replied, "I have a couple of leads but I'm not going to start another business."
