Terry Daugherty always wanted to be an alien like the ones on television, his mother says, and Sunday night the 3-year-old "got to be one."
Terry was turning somersaults at home when he rolled onto an empty fishbowl. It stuck on the top of his head, down to his eyes, and refused to come off, mother Donnasue Daugherty said."He was so scared," she said. "He kept saying he couldn't see and that it hurt."
Two men from the Hermiston Fire Department tried to remove the fishbowl with oil and butter, without success. Terry was taken to the emergency room at Good Shepherd Community Hospital, where soap was used without success.
Finally, the bowl was removed at the hospital with the aid of a special spring-loaded punch fire that ambulance personnel use to safely break glass.
