The University of Utah men's swimming team closed out its 1989 home season by swamping in-state rival BYU, 161-82, in a meet held Tuesday night in the Ute Natatorium.
The Utes won 10 of the 13 events to push their season mark to 11-2. Sprinter Anders Bladh captured first place in the 50 yard freestyle, and also anchored both of the Utes' winning relay teams.Freshman Sal Castro also turned in a fine performance with an individual win in the 100 yard freestyle plus helping Utah to wins in the 400 medley and 400 freestyle relays. Other Ute winners were Richard Johansson in the 200 yard freestyle, Arne Miles in the 200 yard IM, Bret Peterson in one-meter diving, Marc Fraser-Bell in the 200 yard backstroke, Jon Atzet in three- meter diving and Per-Ola Lundbladh in the 200 yard breaststroke.
